Have you ever had to start over? I have, a few times.
I grew up in North Carolina and got married in my early twenties, before I even really knew who I was as a person. Before turning thirty, I had two children and had followed someone else’s dream to live in NYC. Manhattan. The largest city in the U.S. Three years into that NYC dream, I was suddenly a single mom trying to survive with a 4 and 7 year old.
When 2020 came and Covid hit, and after almost 8 loooong years in the city, we ended up moving back to North Carolina. Still single, I was starting over, again - but with happiness in my heart to be raising my children in what I feel is a better environment for them + I felt like I could finally breathe again.
I do not share this story for pity, but only to say this…
during all that time, I had something tugging in my heart….
…I had always wanted to start a health and wellness blog.
I specifically wanted to start a wellness blog for families. When you become a parent, you want to do everything you can to build the best possible life for your kid(s). I know I don’t have to tell you twice that PARENTING IS HARD!
When my son was one we found out he had several food allergies which included dairy, eggs, peanuts, cashews, and pistachio’s. In 2010 there weren’t as many wonderful non-dairy substitutions that we have today, so it wasn’t a walk in the park - in fact, he’s a teenager and it’s still something we deal with today.
Three years later my daughter was born 7 weeks early and was a whopping 3lbs 14oz. Talk about a whole different level of worry as a parent. Although she didn’t have food allergies, she dealt with some crazy eczema and as a tween today, she still deals with an itchy scalp, amongst other things.
Over the years of dealing with the challenges of living in different cities, being a single mom with one income, the one constant I have adhered to is wellness. That’s the thing that kept me going. I learned how to create healthy meals, have a sustainable lifestyle and manage big emotions.
I am a passionate advocate for generational wellness and family health.
I am a mom who’s dealt with kids food allergies and skin issues.
I have lived in many different places and have been able to maintain a healthy lifestyle, despite challenges.
Whether you’re starting your journey or looking to deepen your family’s wellness practices, I’m here to inspire and support you every step of the way.
If I can do it, I know you can too!
